The fifth annual JD Memorial Ball Hockey Tournament drew 70 players to McLeod Athletic Park on Sunday.

The tournament is organized by Nick Dhaliwal, in memory of his younger brother Jas, who passed away in 2006 following a motorcycle accident.

Proceeds from the tournament are used to raise money for a JD Memorial bursary and promote Jas’ spirit of community and helping others. Close to $3,000 has been raised so far.

The tournament was won by ‘The Nephews’ team. Other winners were Mike Vanderbeek (hardest shot, which measured at 168 km/h), Harvey Takhar (best goalie in shootout), Shane Khan (best player in shootout) and Brendan Ham (most creative breakaway challenge).
