Up against the best of the best, the 91Ô­´´ Olympians more than held their own.

The swim club sent a team of four to go up against more than 400 swimmers at the 2017 Speedo Western Canadian Open in Calgary.

The elite meet was held April 20 to 23 with the Olympians scoring 473 points to place 10th out of the 52 teams in attendance.

And the 91Ô­´´ swimmers combined to win nine medals while breaking six LOSC club records in the process.

Bailey Herbert led the way with six of those medals.

The 14-year-old won gold medals in the 200 individual medley (2:20.68), the 400 IM (5:01.01), silver medals in the 100 fly (1:04.21), 200 fly (2:22.32) and 200 breaststroke (2:34.74) and bronze in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.58). She broke two club records in the women’s 13/14-year-old 200 freestyle (2:10.66) and 200 IM (2:20.68).

Josie Field, 15, won gold in the 200 fly (2:21.09) and bronze in the 400 freestyle (4:33.48).

Joshua Kim, 15, won bronze in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.63) and broke the club record in the men’s 15-17-year-old category as well as the senior open category for both the 50 breaststroke (30.48) and 200 breaststroke (2:28.14)

The fourth Olympian swimmer competing was 13-year-old Sevi Parr.

Triple gold

LOSC’s Serge Score was competing at the 2017 Masters Swimming Association BC provincial championships in Kelowna.

And the 56-year-old went a perfect three-for-three, winning gold medals in the men’s 55-to-59-year-old category of the 50 breaststroke (34.09), 100 breaststroke (1:14.09) and 200 breaststroke (2:39.85). He also broke the provincial records — which had been set by him — in the 50 and 200 breaststroke events.
