A two-point loss prevented the Walnut Grove Gators from medalling at the Fraser Valley championships.
The Gators senior boys鈥� basketball team lost 68-66 against Heritage Woods in the third place game at Thomas Haney Secondary on Saturday night. The defeat came the day after Walnut Grove lost 66-59 to the W.J. Mouat Hawks.
The Hawks would go on to win the AAA Fraser Valley title.
Larry Blyth was named a first team all-star, while his teammate, Jack Tsai, was selected to the second team.
Walnut Grove opens the B.C. high school AAA championships next Wednesday (March 16) at the 91原创 Events Centre against the Vancouver College Fighting Irish. Game time is 1:15 p.m.
Prior to the playoffs, the Irish were ranked fourth in the province, while the Gators were ninth.
