The Fraser Valley Fusion 06 found themselves in an unfamiliar position — a tight game.
Down two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Fusion rallied with three runs to stun the Ridge Meadows Pride 06 by a 7-6 score.
The two teams were playing in the gold medal game at the White Rock Renegades squirt A rep showdown over the weekend at South Surrey’s Sunnyside Park.
The victory capped off a 5-0 showing for the 91Ô´´-based U12 squad. But unlike the gold-medal game which required some late-game heroics, the Fusion won their previous four games by a minimum of nine runs each time.
They went 3-0 in round-robin play, winning 12-3 over the Cloverdale Fury 06, pounding the Victoria Devils 06 by a 14-1 score and then prevailing 13-3 over the White Rock Renegades 06 squad.
In the semifinals, Fraser Valley would again be matched up with the Renegades, this time winning by an 11-1 count.
