Down four runs after three innings, the 91Ô´´ Blaze made things interesting with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
But that would not be enough as the U18 baseball team dropped a 4-3 decision to the Abbotsford Cardinals on Tuesday at McLeod Park.
Mason Cratty had an RBI double, while Scott McCarthy also drove in a run.
In each of the last three innings, the Blaze managed to get runners in scoring position, but failed each time to bring them home.
Aaron Dick was tagged with the loss, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk in two innings.
The loss was 91Ô´´'s third in the past four games, but the Blaze (30-11) maintains its 2.5 game lead atop the B.C. Premier Baseball League with seven games remaining in the regular season.
The team is off to California for a tournament which runs July 1-5.
They return to league play July 9 and 10 for a four-game series against the Okanagan Athletics (19-20).
