Being on a big stage such as the Canada Winter Games should be no problem for Kacy Hannesson.

Hannesson has plenty of experience competing in pressure packed situations, having played for Team USA at the world ringette championships.

The 18-year-old, whose dad is an American citizen, which allows her to hold dual citizenship, will play for Team B.C. in Halifax at the Canada Winter Games.

鈥淚t was absolutely amazing,鈥� Hannesson said of the world championships, which were played in Finland last October.

鈥淕oing all that way to play ringette, it was crazy.鈥�

This time, Hannesson, an 18-year-old who graduated from Walnut Grove Secondary last June, won鈥檛 have to leave Canada for an elite competition.

Hannesson, usually a centre during the club season in the Lower Mainland Ringette League鈥檚 AA Belle division, will play defence for Team B.C.

Head coach Richard White expects her to provide offence from the back end.

鈥淪he probably has the most dangerous shot of any defence player in the whole country,鈥� he said. 鈥淪he is a great offensive threat and we are so excited to have that.鈥�

White described her as quick, strong and agile, who can be hard for the opponent to contain.

鈥淪he can stop on a dime and change direction.鈥�
