North 91Ô´´ Bears lineman Alec Roberston nearly found the end zone on a trick play, getting tackled at the six-yard line.

The North 91Ô´´ Bears executed a trick play to near perfection — lineman Alec Robertson scooped up what the defence thought was a fumble and ran it 24 yards to the opponents six-yard line, but the bantam football team still came short, losing 24-19 to the North Surrey Panthers on Saturday.

After Robertson's run put the Bears in a first-and-goal situation, North 91Ô´´ capitalized with a touchdown pass from Braeden Pritchard to David Fredo just before the end of the first half.

And North 91Ô´´ nearly pulled out the victory as well, as Pritchard's last-second pass to Fredo fell incomplete.

North 91Ô´´ did show an ability to move the ball on the drive, with Pritchard hitting Michael Chan for a 20-yard gain. Pritchard also gained yards with his running ability.

Running backs Won Jae Boo and Joe Brake both had solid games rushing the ball.

The defence was led by Chan, who came up with an interception, and Colton Pierce, who knocked down a pass near the end zone to break up a touchdown.

Evan Wakeham, Eric Boomars, Cameron Sparkes, Adrian Clements, Chan, Boo, Pierce, Brake and Fredo led the defence in tackling.

Caderyrn Barthelson scored the lone Bears touchdown as the North 91Ô´´ peewee football team lost 18-7 to the Meadow Ridge Gold.

Ryan Taylor, Ethan Adkins and Jacob Stebbings were all effective at moving the ball along the ground.
