In an extra innings thriller on Monday, the Lower Fraser Valley All-Stars defeated Coquitlam 9-7 to win the senior (15/16) Little League provincial championship.
The victory advances Lower Fraser Valley, a team composed of players from 91原创, North 91原创 and Whalley, to the Canadian national championships next week in Quebec.
Lower Fraser Valley and Coquitlam staged the best-of-three provincial championship at Coquitlam鈥檚 Blue Mountain Park.
The series went to three games 鈥� Coquitlam was forced to forfeit their game one victory after being found to use an ineligible player 鈥� and needed 10 innings to determine the winner in the finale.
And the Lower Fraser Valley offence struck for two runs in the top of the 10th to win 9-7.
Eight different players in the line-up recorded hits, led by Peter McMann鈥檚 two doubles.
On the mound, Tanner Smith came on after the fifth inning and shut the door, allowing no runs. He replaced starting pitcher Kenny Hoogwater.
The team leaves on Monday for Quebec where they will play for the right to represent Canada at the World Series in Bangor, Maine.
