Aldergrove sisters Amy and Sarah Potomak have their sights set on playing for the Canadian women鈥檚 national team at the 2018 Olympics.

The sisters are among the 28 players listed on Hockey Canada鈥檚 centralization roster.

The roster was selected by head coach Laura Schuler alongside Melody Davidson, Hockey Canada鈥檚 general manager of national women鈥檚 team programs, and included support from Hockey Canada regional scouts, assistant coaches Dwayne Gylywoychuk and Troy Ryan, and goaltending coach Brad Kirkwood.

鈥淲e鈥檙e looking forward to continuing our preparation for PyeongChang with this dedicated group of athletes,鈥 said Schuler.

鈥淚t was a difficult process selecting the 28 players that will vie for a spot on Canada鈥檚 Olympic roster and we鈥檙e excited to be one step closer in that journey.鈥

Sarah Potomak, 19, just finished her sophomore season with the NCAA Division 1 Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Younger sister, Amy, 17, is in Grade 12 and plays for the Pacific Steelers of the Junior Women鈥檚 Hockey League. She has also accepted a scholarship to play for the Golden Gophers.

Both are forwards and are the youngest among the 28 invitees. They have each previously represented Canada at various international competitions.

The players will meet in Calgary in late May for fitness testing and then will come together again in August.

The final 23-player roster for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games will be announced in late December.

The Games run Feb. 9 to 25.
