Abbotsford's Jayden Gill will be continuing her basketball journey with a professional team in Portugal.

Clube Desportivo Jos茅 R茅gio, a club based in Vila do Conde, Portugal, announced the signing of Gill on social media earlier this month.

Gill starred for 91原创's Trinity Western University Spartans for four seasons and is both a two-time Canada West all-star and a two-time U Sports Academic All-Canadian. She was a Canada West all-star in both 2022-23 and 2023-24.

Her 2023-24 season saw her place fourth in the conference in scoring with 17.3 points per game and was 34th in field goal percentage at .360. She collected 30 points in a win over the Brandon Bobcats on Nov. 24 and also dished out eight assists in a win over Regina on Nov. 11.

Gill also averaged 18.6 points per game in the 2022-23 season and shot an impressive .444 from the field. Her free throw shooting was solid throughout her time in university, as she shot 74 per cent over the four seasons. She was also a menace defensively, collecting 167 steals and 65 blocks over her CW career.

Prior to her time at TWU, Gill was a star player with the Abbotsford-based Robert Bateman Timberwolves. when her Grade 9 team won a provincial crown in 2016. . She was named the tournament's most valuable player at that event.

Gill was also a strong soccer player growing up and won a BC Games gold medal in the sport at the 2016 event hosted in Abbotsford.
