Abbotsford鈥檚 Chase Claypool has been dealt to the Miami Dolphins.

The Chicago Bears traded the former Abbotsford Senior Secondary School grad along with a Bears 2025 seventh round draft pick in exchange for a Dolphins sixth round pick.

His ending in Chicago was a rocky one, as he was told to stay home after replying 鈥渘o鈥 when asked if the Bears were using him in the best way to showcase his talents. He was also asked to stay home for the Bears game against the Washington Commanders on Thursday (Oct. 5).

Claypool was dealt to the Bears by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 1, 2022 and played 10 games with Chicago. The Bears went 0-10 in those games and Claypool caught 18 passes for 191 yards and one touchdown during that time.

He joins a Dolphins team with one of the most high-powered offences in the National Football League. Miami exploded for 70 points against the Denver Broncos back on Sept. 24 鈥 the second most points scored in a game in NFL history.

The Dolphins are led offensively by quarterback Tua Tagivailoa, who has had an excellent early start to the season after suffering from concussion issues last season. Miami is known for its group of speedy receivers, including Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Braxton Berrios.

The major challenge Claypool may face is that head coach Mike McDaniel runs a complicated and very technical offence that could be difficult for Claypool to master in the middle of a season.

Claypool is not the only Canadian on the Dolphins, as he joins Coquitlam鈥檚 Jevon Holland on the team. Holland is in his third season as a safety with Miami.

Miami sits at 3-1 in the AFC East division and will now compete for that division title with the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and New York Jets.

The Dolphins also have a favourable schedule coming up, with games against the New York Giants (1-3) on Sunday (Oct. 8) and the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 15. Miami then takes on the defending AFC champion Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 22. The Dolphins also travel to Frankfurt, Germany to take on the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 5.
