Editor: I hope the voters in November will turf out all these politicians who keep raising gasoline and property taxes, and want to add car levies.
It’s time to get some new blood in our local goverment, instead of the stale old stuff we have now.
How would car levies work? If one person owned two or three cars and he or she is the sole owner and driver, would that person pay three levies?
They can only drive one vehicle at a time. It’s no different from a single car being driven the same distance.
As for TransLink, why should we not pay for the service we receive? Vancouver has SkyTrain, the Canada Line and a high level of bus service. Richmond, New Westminster and Burnaby also have a high level of service.
Why should these areas not pay more like a 10-cent per litre increase in gas tax, and maybe $100 more in property tax to TransLink?
It’s time to tell local politicians to cut all the frills and get back to lean and mean government. There should be no more tax increases.
Our pockets are being sucked dry.
