Editor: I would like to support and thank Supt. Derek Cooke for his letter (The Times, June 1)in regards to the parking ticket complaint in Fort 91原创 at this year鈥檚 May Day. I was the parade marshall for this event, and have been for many years.
May Day doesn鈥檛 just happen, it evolves from the efforts of a community group that puts in many hours well ahead of this special event in Fort 91原创. One of our biggest concerns is safety.
We spent time posting 鈥渘o parking鈥 signs along the parade route. Despite this, a few people chose to ignore them.
The visiting motorcycle team from Vancouver are a popular lead-off to our parade. They were unable to demonstrate their expertise along some parts of the route, due to a few parked cars. Maybe they should have also been towed, and the owner would have a lot more expense than a parking ticket.
Fort 91原创 is a great community, as Supt. Cooke puts it. Next year will be the 90th year of this event. We will continue our efforts to keep it safe and sincerely thank Supt.Cooke and his members for their support of this event.
