'Oh, what a tangled web'

Editor: 鈥淥h, what a tangled web we weave, when we first practice to deceive鈥 鈥 Sir Walter Scott.

With reference to the ongoing saga involving some 91原创 Township council members and the mayor, there are no innocent parties. Mayor Rick Green should never have called an emergency in-camera meeting of council to consider the contents of an anonymous letter addressed to a third party that appeared in his home mailbox.

The Times and other newspapers do not publish or respond to anonymous letters addressed to the editor.

Council members should not have published deliberations and decisions reached behind closed doors. That remains confidential. Council members who bemoan the lack of integrity, respect and the democratic process are guilty of all these things themselves.

The mayor was elected by the citizens of 91原创 Township, just as they were, and yet some council members fail to respect the office of the mayor, hence the ongoing feud.

I sincerely hope that Charlie Fox challenges Rick Green for the office of mayor at the next municipal elections. Let Fox campaign on 6-6-6 percent tax increases for the next three years, as opposed to Green鈥檚 0-0-0, and see who wins.

That way at least one opening is created in the incumbent crowd. Hopefully, we can elect an entire council that can work together with Mayor Green.

Ed Wiens,

Walnut Grove
