I agree that SOGI (Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) needs to go back to the drawing board.

Some of the goals of SOGI are good 鈥� such as the need to address the issues of protection and inclusion where in the past there has been marginalization.

Absolutely every child should be treated with dignity and respect at school.

The problem with SOGI is that one of its stated goals is to compel students to 鈥渞ecognize and value鈥� certain ideas about sexual-orientation and gender identities and expressions.

Whoever wrote SOGI knew that not everyone agrees with the position taken on these issues, myself included, yet no provision was made for these people who disagree.

It is possible in democratic society to respect other people, even when not everyone shares the same beliefs.

SOGI oversteps its bounds by compelling students to embrace something that many disagree with, rather than respecting their right to hold their own beliefs.

Send SOGI back to the drawing board.
