Letter: Schools should leave lessons in family values to families

Editor: When did the school board decide that our schools should have something to say about the morals of our children, and interfere with how the parents were teaching their children?

Editor: When did the school board decide that our schools should have something to say about the morals of our children, and interfere with how the parents were teaching their children?

Clearly they have got it wrong this time and need to get back to what they were hired to do. Reading, writing and arithmetic are the main staples they need to keep their eye on and keep out of the family business.

Last time I looked, many schools were no longer teaching students how to write, and leaving it up to the parents to teach this. Seriously, can you trust a school board that makes a decision like that?

How about we switch places. Teachers, you teach the writing and we as parents will teach the family values?

My children are now grown, but I have grandchildren and this will not be tolerated. We will not allow family values to be altered because a small minority of people, businesses looking for more customers, and politicians hoping to get another term bully their way into places they should not be.

The decisions made today will be with you a very long time, it’s time to wake up.
