Dear Editor,
On Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. I was heading west on Fraser Highway, directly across from the Freshco grocery store. A small black animal
ran across in front of me, and tried to run across the highway, heading east.
A white truck ran it over and just kept going! I stopped and found a badly hurt black puppy, confused and in shock. She ran and thankfully jumped in my truck. (I had left door open). I rushed her to the Animal Emergency Clinic of the Fraser Valley, where the staff was incredible.
They were working on her within one minute. She was microchipped, and owner was called.
They never got a chance to say goodbye. I talked with the owner and told her I had talked softly to "Rosie" and stroked her all the way to the clinic.
This tragedy will have an impact on her owners forever, as well as me.
What kind of a person can run over an animal and just keep going? There were cars heading east that had to stop momentarily, and I am hoping someone got their licence plate and will phone it in to police.
This person should be charged if possible, and exposed for the disgusting, inhumane person he or she is.
