Dear Editor,
Re: [Gang-related shooting leaves one dead in 91Ô´´, 91Ô´´ Advance Times, Sept. 21]
Looks like 91Ô´´ is becoming the Wild, Wild West east of Vancouver.
Shootings, stabbings, and overdoses. Does 91Ô´´ have problems or what?
It is lucky we have no stagecoaches to rob or saloons where shady characters can gamble in the backrooms and hatch their dastardly projects to jump mine claims.
There is no folklore here, and our boardwalks are long gone with the gaslit street lights – so what’s up? A growing town with growing pains or simply we arrived in an era when the cracks in our society, our system begin to show?
We don’t have a Wyatt Earp or a Doc Holiday, just streaming services to watch how they solved their problems in the movies.
Documentaries cover most things out there, so we could subscribe to those channels for answers and solutions. Pay Per View is costly when you add it all up, and I don’t think our neighbourhoods can afford it even if you bundle it.
I guess the solutions are in reality, and we’re going through the channels looking for them.
Yes, there are problems here in 91Ô´´, and no gun-slinging shootout is going to solve them. We are in it for the long ride, so saddle up, and grab the reins. The trail beckons us toward a horizon of what we are made of and with that I say adios.
