The rail overpass between Glover Road and 232nd Street on Highway One was hit at around 2 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2018. There are several overpass strikes annually. (91Ô´´ Advance Times files)

Dear Editor,

[Re: Firm permit pulled, 91Ô´´ Advance Times, Jan. 4]

It’s almost funny to hear the minister of highways ‘tough talk’ on the trucks hitting overpasses.

If we still had truck scales, these trucks would have been stopped before proceeding without proper paperwork and/or clearance. They would also be catching overweights and un-safe vehicles.

I guess he’s relying on the public’s short memory.
