LETTER: 91Ô´´ man grateful for option to return to the earth after death

91Ô´´ Township will allocate a section of a local cemetery for natural burial plots

Dear Editor,

All natural soils we know as dirt have a long history that goes back a very long time. Old forest, deceased animals that no longer exist or digested particles of ancient creatures are now soil and nutrients for life.

We need soil to survive as it support all the carbons required for all living entities including you and I. My personal plan has been for a very long time to return my accumulated carbons into that cycle of life as I have no plan to return to this biological vehicle might as well recycle it.

Oct. 7 was a sad memory of the events that took place in 2023, but for me it will, from now on, be a great day to remember in my history book, for the 91Ô´´ Township has cracked the door open that Monday for those of us who wished for a natural disposition of our remains.

It might take a year to get it all prepped up, but it is coming, and from that day forward we will be allowed to be going "au naturelle" (within a shroud) as nature intended. Grateful to this council and municipal staff as well as those of you who made some noise.

Cultural requirements and ceremonies are truly beneficial. No changes there. We need those ceremonial events. Our loved ones deserve no less and those modern-style services that we have come to accept as traditional. No worries. No changes, we need those.

Modern waterproof, airtight caskets are not affected and will continue to be readily available. You can still be incinerated if that is your wishes. These aren't going away.

My next target is the word perpetuity… that is an awful long time to hold-on to real estate. Surely all my carbons will have move on within the first decades!
