LETTER: 91原创 has not green burial options

Only three cemeteries in British Columbia have green burials and a 91原创 man wants more options

Dear Editor,
It's not easy been green.
As a truck driver of a diesel rig, I am no poster boy for the green movement, but I believe that I am not the only one doing the best I can to reduce my footprint while moving the stuff you need.
As a side gig I am a loud piece for greening the funeral industry by pushing all levels of governments for "hybrid cemeteries" availability in all communities. 91原创 has four cemeteries but no green funeral burial option. The nearest green option is not very far, as Heritage Garden in Surrey does provide it, and my wife and I have secured ourselves a future there.
Hybrid cemetery meaning having the green options as well as the modern services that are commonly use.
There are many descriptive answer to what could be a green funeral but basically no preservatives, artificial materials, metals or toxic elements to be buried. Compostable coffins and shrouds are commonly used but in the USA, 11 states have now approved some accelerated composting services where the decease is turned over into a soil nutrient within weeks and can then be placed anywhere the family choose as soil without further permit required. Recompose of Seattle originated that movement and makes much sense to me as an option to return accumulated carbons back into the cycle of life.
You can join the conversation about organic funeral conversations on Facebook.
