Dear Editor,
I think it was the summer of 2012 that I became first curious and then enthralled by smartphone technology. As one who is aware of my own limited intellectual abilities, I welcomed any help I could get.
It wasn鈥檛 long before I began exploring what I came to regard later as antisocial media. Many hours evaporated while I spent my time with my virtual friends instead of my real ones. Someone once said 鈥淚 used to wonder what other people were thinking, then I got Facebook. Now I鈥檓 over it.鈥�
I think the logo the company chose is very clever and appropriate. It reminds me of the biblical story of Adam and Eve. Just one little taste and everything changes. Be careful how you use it.
When I was new to the technology, and still learning how things worked, a program was asking me for a 鈥淪ecret question鈥濃��
I decided 鈥淗ah, lets see how smart this phone really is! Maybe I can confuse it with an existential question.鈥� So I asked 鈥淲hat is the meaning of life?鈥�
I waited, and waited. While I was waiting I realized that I was supposed to provide an answer to the secret question. The phone was so smart that it had turned the table on me! However, I benefitted from the experience, because I accepted the challenge!
I began to think (you could almost smell the smoke) 鈥淲hat is there in my life that would make it meaningless if I did not have it?鈥� I invite you to answer the question for yourself. Your answer may be different than mine.
It turns out that a lot of the things I usually think of as very important, like money, career, and reputation were not even considered. Everyone can choose their own answer, but for me, as corny as it sounds, the answer is love. I cannot imagine a world without it.
