Editor: I was walking my German shepherd on a trail in Walnut Grove and three raccoons attacked us. My dog was fighting off one of them and I was fighting the other two with my umbrella from the ground, as I had fallen backwards.
Some young people heard me screaming. After the raccoons fled, Jake and I took off. I realized I did not have my bag and returned to the area. That is when the teens asked me what happened, and if I was OK.
The attack was unprovoked. I would like to warn others who walk the trails to be aware, especially if they have smaller dogs.
