January 4, 1950 - September 18, 2023

In loving memory ~

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Valorie Ruth Read McIntosh on September 18, 2023, in 91原创, B.C. Val was born on January 4, 1950, in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Jack and Jean Read. She was raised in Vancouver and graduated from Vancouver Tech High School. After graduation, Val went to work at Pacific GMC.

During family vacations to Hatzic Lake, Val met her sweetheart Wayne James McIntosh, and they were married on May 9, 1970, in Vancouver. Val and Wayne started their life together in 91原创 where Wayne built them a beautiful home and they had two cherished children Tammy Michelle and Bryan Wayne. Then along came their precious grandchildren Nicholas Colton & Michaela Jessica Richardson and Hailey Grace & Justin Dylan McIntosh whom she adored and spent every moment she could with.

Val was predeceased by her parents Jack and Jean Read and her sister Jeanne Apland.

She is survived by Wayne, her devoted husband of 53 years, daughter Tammy (Mike Richardson), son Bryan, grandchildren Michaela, Nick and the twins Hailey and Justin, brother Russell Read (Lynn), brother-in-law Ron Apland, sister-in-law Linda Mcintosh and many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

She worked at the 91原创 Public Health Unit for 25 years and they referred to her as "their basket of sunshine". She will be remembered for her laughter and big smile.

Val's greatest love was time spent together with family and friends. Val and Wayne loved to travel. They ventured to Europe, across Canada, numerous trips to Hawaii (Val loved the heat) and all through the United States where they ended up with their winter home in Yuma, Arizona.

Val also loved to exercise, whether it was aerobics, aquafit or walking miles on end with her good friends and family, she was up for a good sweat and conversation.

A special thank you to Dr. Rita Wittman for her loving, compassionate care.

The 200 people in attendance at the celebration of life was a testament to the impact Val had on people throughout her life. Big thanks to these same people who generously donated to the 91原创 Hospice and raised $7,460 in Val's name. Our sincerest gratitude!

While a piece of our hearts will be forever missing, Val's legacy of love and our cherished memories will stay with us forever.
