In loving Memory ~

Rob was born in Burnaby but, with the exception of several years in each of Grande Prairie AB, Prince George and Williams Lake BC, spent most of his life in the Township of 91原创 (Aldergrove and Walnut Grove).

His parents (George and Cora Surcon) moved to Glen Valley when he was in Grade 9. On weekends he worked cleaning out the beehive burners along the Fraser River and helping at the Glen Valley store. He acquired a strong work ethic which served him well as a Credit/Finance Manager in several major international corporations (Peterbilt trucks, Finning, RivTow, Terratech and Sherwin-Williams Paint).

He loved water-based activities and saved enough money to buy his first ski boat (the 'RLD') before he could even drive a car. That was followed by two more ski boats and two sailboats. His final purchase was a 24' cabin cruiser, 'The Chipmunk', which he captained through the waters of Desolation Sound, Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands. In later years when boating was done, he took up cycling, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, hiking and workouts at the gym. He loved feeding the songbirds in his back yard and preferred to wash and dry his dishes by hand - no dishwasher for him!

His love and dedication to his two daughters was evidenced by his gentle teasing and humour. He bought them four horses to ride and hauled them to horse shows and lessons. He granted teenage house parties and let them know there was always room for one more friend on their camping and fishing trips.

Rob didn't hesitate to help out anyone who needed it. He could keep a confidence and would offer the right compassionate words to say that comforted someone who needed to hear them. He was a social person and cheerfully volunteered in various clubs.

The family is thankful to all his friends, work colleagues and extended family whose company he treasured and made his life full. Those experiences prepared him for the last six years of life where he suffered from the debilitating symptoms of Parkinsons and Lewy-Body dementia.

He is sorely missed by family: Isabel (close relative), Kary and Lori (daughters), and Alex, Ryan and Isabella (grandchildren).
