Phil's journey began January 22, 1941 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Passed away July 17, 2020 of cancer at 91原创, BC. Moved to the West Coast at five years old. First to Endako, BC then to Alice Arm, BC.
Through out the years there he enjoyed boating and fishing in the Bay of Alice Arm, Kitsault and Anyox. He was also the mail carrier from Kitsault to Alice Arm Post Office.
He loved the North, people, snow and the cold. Phil worked in many places on construction in BC., with the Teamsters 213, heavy construction, finally settling in 91原创 in 1990. For 11 winters he went back North to plow snow on Highway 37N Meziadin area. Summers home to 91原创 and to other jobs. He travelled and enjoyed trips to parts of Europe. Also visited relatives in Denmark where his dad was from.
Phil was predeceased by his parents Peter and Lily (Gardner) Neilson and brother Allen Neilson. Survived by his loving wife of 44 years Dorine (Bettles). Children, Annette (Tracy) Granger, Marlene Weir, Michelle Neilson, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. And many in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
The family is deeply grateful to the dedicated neighbours, relatives, friends and all the staff at 91原创 Hospice who helped to care for Phil. Thank you all.
Phil will be remembered for his sense of humour, kindness, love of animals, nature and one who could fix anything. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
Due to COVID, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
