March 20, 1929 - February 1, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom at the age of 95 at 91原创 Lodge, 91原创 BC.

Mom was born in Kamloops, BC at the Royal Inland Hospital on March 20, 1929, to Clifford and Wilhelmina Herring. Her early years were spent in Squilax, BC working after school in her parents' grocery, hardware and dry goods store. At the age of 19, Mom left Squilax and moved to Vancouver, BC where she attended Pitman Business College. After graduating she moved to 91原创 and worked as a Dental Assistant. It was at a local function that she met our dad, Harry Swain and they married May 26, 1950. They had 2 daughters, Vicki and Penny. After raising her 2 girls, Mom went back to work at the 91原创 Sewing Center. She was an amazing seamstress and spent countless hours sewing for herself and her daughters. She will be remembered for all the sweaters she knit over the years for family and friends as well as beautiful needlepoint and crocheting projects. Gardening was a passion as well as her fondness for all animals. She loved Vogue fashion, her high heels, music concerts and going out for lunch. She loved her 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and always had Lindt chocolates on hand for Grandma visits. In addition to working for Jeffrey and Company and the 91原创 Auction, Mom enjoyed volunteering for the 91原创 Arts Council, the 91原创 Rod and Gun Club and the Cancer Society.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister-in-law Ann Herring, and her husbands Harry Swain, Jim Ziola and Harold Ziola. Survived by her brother Bob Herring, daughters Vicki Zazulak (Daryl) and Penny Deglan (Alf). Grandchildren Stephanie, Brad, Alfie and Shayna and 10 great grandchildren plus 2 nephews and 2 great nieces (immediate family).

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at 91原创 Lodge for taking care of our Mom. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favourite charity. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
