In loving memory ~

Marie Anna Massey was born in Abbotsford, BC to parents Dirk and Eva Van Haga. She passed peacefully at the age of 87 while surrounded by family and having lived a full and satisfying life. Marie was a true farm girl, from Markerville, AB. She loved animals, gardening, cooking, and large families. At the age of 18 married the love of her life, Leonard Massey. Marie had a penchant for having more than one baby at a time, first twins (one deceased at birth), a single baby, and then triplets.

Marie was more than a farmer. She had a career in hairdressing, loved quilting, gardening, camping, holidays and road trips with her family. She held dear and loved the many friends that she made during the time she lived in Alberta and at the Pioneer Park where she spent her last couple of decades. She loved fiercely, appreciated life deeply, was full of kindness, consideration and always was around to offer a helping hand. Most of all, she loved God and all the wonderful things he blessed her with here on earth.

Marie is predeceased by her parents, daughter Wendelin Massey, first husband Leonard Massey, second husband Bill Viney, brothers Tommy Van Haga, Danny Van Haga, Jan Van Haga and sister Marge Matycio.

She is survived by her siblings Joan (Jim) McCoy, Eleanor Willis, Beth (Doug) Lesh, David (Bev) Van Haga, and Benny (Tammy) Van Haga; her children Kelly (Chrissy) Massey, Kevin (Kathy) Massey, Melanie (Alden) Toles, Rosalie Roszko (Randy Berggren), and Lorelei (Warren) Crowe, and many grand children, great grand children, nephews, nieces and other family members and friends. She will be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be hosted on July 12, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Whitecourt Senior Circle located at 5212-50 St., A small graveside service for family, will be held in Debolt, Alta., where she will be laid to rest with the Lord and alongside her first husband.
