In Loving Memory ~

Kitty Brett passed away peacefully at Magnolia Gardens on July 28, 2024.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, her family immigrated to South Africa after the Second World War when she was just 13 years old. Kitty excelled at school, even while learning a new language, Afrikaans. At 16, she started working to help support her immediate family but continued night school, earning the equivalent of a full year of university towards a B.Com.

She married her best friend and sweetheart, Colin Brett, on December 7, 1957. They belonged to the same field hockey club and loved ballroom dancing together. Concerned for the long-term future of their four children, they immigrated to Canada in 1981.

Upon arrival, Kitty started working at Scotia Bank in downtown Vancouver, commuting daily from 91原创 for a few years. When her eldest son started a family computer business, she immediately joined and gave sound financial advice for decades.

Kitty battled breast cancer first in 2014, then again soon after the passing of her husband in 2022. She resided at Magnolia Gardens Care Centre since July 2023, recovering her health so well that she was planning a move back into her own house. Our deepest thanks to the nurses and staff at the Care Centre for their love and support of Kitty this past year.

She is survived by her brother, Joseph Mackenzie, and her children: Ian and his wife (of Vancouver, BC), Alan (of 91原创, BC), Rosemary and husband Thomas (of Tampa, Florida), and Colin Jr. and his fianc茅 Victoria (of Harrison Hot Springs, BC); her grandchildren: David, Amalia, Jonathan (predeceased), Jordan, Benjamin, Alec (& Sarah), Jonas (& Emely), Logan, and Carissa; and her great-granddaughter Elena Rose.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be sadly missed.

We are rejoicing in the knowledge that she is with her Heavenly Father and we all look forward to being reunited with her one day.

The graveside memorial will be at 10 AM on August 24 at the 91原创 Lawn Cemetery (208 St and 44th Ave).
