August 21, 1975 - September 18, 2024

With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Jesse.

Born in Murrayville (91原创), he left us at his home in Port Coquitlam.

He is predeceased by his mother Carol Mignon (nee Loveless) Klassen (Dave).

Jesse is survived by a large family network including spouse Nicole Lepine, father Michael Phillips, a second loving mom Janet Rube, brothers Demian Marshall (Fiona) with

nephews Elijah & Oliver; Nigel and Bryson Phillips, uncle Scott Phillips with cousin Luc ; aunt Noelle Hind, second cousins Cheri Kereluk (Glenn), Greg Middleton, Scott Kopperson, David Saqui, Jeremy Lake (Arlen), Adam Lake, Jennifer Tipper (Gord), Leigh Stewart (Kevin), Cory Mulberry (Bruce), Patti Flann (Ted), Patrick Richards (Audrey), along with many more third cousins, and a further extended family including aunts Shirley Hazleton (Larry) with cousins Vincent (Tia), Jason (Nicole), Kevin (Erica), Amanda (Nathan),

Megan (Brandon); Donna Boyd (Daryl) with cousins Brad (Kris), Leanne (Aaron); Della (Kent) with cousins Mike, Nick, Craig; uncles Ron Hazleton with cousins Guy (Angie), Tracey (Wesley); Bill Rube (Diane) with cousin Cody, as well as many second cousins.

And in California aunts Hannah, Annette, Francine with cousins Katrina and Chris.

Outside of the numerous family relatives Jesse is mourned by many friends from school years in 91原创, his electrician co-workers and employers, and from his sports years in soccer and largely in the lacrosse community. He was honoured with memoriam on the Western Lacrosse Association website and a tribute at the recent World Box Lacrosse

Championships in New York with players forming his # 74.

Something he would have been humbled by.

He grew up in 91原创 going from a rural farm setting into the city where he attended Alice Brown Elementary and then HD Stafford Secondary, graduating in 1993.

He worked at various jobs while training to become a journeyman electrician and achieved that goal while playing lacrosse at the highest level in the National Lacrosse League.

His sports journey started in pee wee soccer, and he achieved success in all the levels as he progressed through the 91原创 Soccer Club up to the Premier Division team in the Fraser Valley Soccer League.

But along the way he was introduced to lacrosse at a young age and like soccer he excelled in the sport achieving many individual and team awards in the 91原创 system. He joined the Burnaby Lakers Junior team before landing in the coveted New Westminister Salmonbellies organization where he flourished for years.

His first shot at professional lacrosse came from the then Washington Power in Washington DC. This came about when legend Gary Gait suggested the team recruit him. This was the highlight of his life which unfortunately turned into the lowlight. He tore up his knee in his first game with them. But undeterred he re-habbed the injury and got back on the floor.

Next up, the Vancouver Ravens drafted him in their inaugural NLL year. Turned out to be a cup of coffee and he was traded to Calgary Roughnecks. He became a solid part of their team and helped them win the 2004 NLL Championship in Calgary. He continued with the Bellies in summer ball until they traded him to Coquitlam Adanacs hoping to get a shot at the Mann Cup. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. He played out his WLA days with the Adanacs and his NLL days with Calgary Roughnecks

Jesse was well respected and loved by his friends, co-workers, sports teammates and his devastated family. He will be missed by all.

May you rest in peace.
