MILLS, Gordon passed away peacefully on September 4, 2006 at the Lodge at Broadmead in Victoria at the young age of 92.
Gordon was born in a farmhouse near Struan, Saskatchewan on September 27, 1913, along with his three brothers, Gordon braved the hard family life of the 1920's and the 1930's.
He developed a resourceful and hard working nature that saw him through his adult life. He spent several years in the 1930's logging on the west coast. When war loomed in the late 1930's, Gordon volunteered for service in the Air Force, as Military Police, 1944 to 1946 saw Gordon serving in active duty with 126 Wing Spitfires/Typhoons through France and Holland. Then later with occupational duty in Germany. Returning to civi life Gordon took up farming on his own quarter section, and married a Scottish bride Jane from Perth, Scotland.
To raise an eventual family of three children, Gordon re-enlisted in the RCAF and remained there until his retirement in 1962. Service life four years in Europe at NATO headquarters. Farming life called again, and the Mills family lived on Grandpa's farm for 11 years. In 1974 Gordon and his wife Jane moved to 91原创, BC, where they resided in 91原创 Grove mobile estates for 30 years.
After his wife's passing in 2005, Gordon moved to the Lodge at Broadmead in Victoria to be closer to family.
He will be dearly missed by his surviving sons; Donald (Mary) of Victoria, BC, and David (Wendy) of Sherwood Park, Alberta.
He was predeceased by his daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Goddard.
Dad will be lovingly remembered by his four grandsons Nathan (Erin), Lucas, Carl and Casey. As well, surviving brother Colvin (Ruby) in Saskatoon, numerous nieces, nephews and many other friends and relatives.
Gordon will be missed for his generous helpfulness and his big smile.
