During the testing, you may see smoke emerging from roof vents of homes and businesses, seeping from the ground or manholes in the roadways. This smoke is safe, odourless, and does not pose a fire harzard. It should not enter your home unless there is a cross- connection, to the sanitary system, or a dry 鈥淧-trap鈥� in a drain. Dry P- traps are typically present in toilets, sinks, bathtubs, showers and floor drains that are not regularly used.

Prevent smoke from entering your home or business, by pouring a minimum of three cups of water into all of the areas mentioned above, to ensure P-traps are full and form a water barrier.
