Woman in police custody after shots fired near Hope

Man taken to hospital for non-threatening gunshot wounds

Gunshots were fired in Laidlaw Road on June 30, 2024.

One woman is in police custody, and one man injured, after gunshots were fired at Laidlaw Sunday afternoon (June 30). 

Hope RCMP, Chilliwack RCMP, the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, and BC Highway Patrol were all on scene after gunshots were fired in the 58000 block of Laidlaw Road. According to RCMP, upon arrival officers took one woman into custody and a man was taken to the hospital for serious but "non-life threatening injuries."

As of Monday (July 1), two groups of people have been identified as "being involved in an altercation" before the gun was fired.

RCMP said there is no threat to the public at this time.
