Woman dead in fatal Christmas Day collision in Surrey

Surrey police are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage after Dec. 25 crash in Cloverdale

A crash at the intersection of Highway 10 and Highway 15 in Cloverdale on Christmas Day killed a passenger in one of the vehicles involved.

One woman is dead after a fatal collision in Cloverdale on Christmas Day.

The crash happened at about 11:15 a.m. on Dec. 25, when a vehicle struck a second vehicle at the intersection of Highway 15 (176 Street) and Highway 10 (56 Avenue) in Surrey, according to a Surrey Police Service press release. The passenger in the vehicle that was struck died despite life-saving measures at the scene, police say.

Information and photos from a Black Press freelancer at the scene indicate that one of the vehicles involved in the crash was a taxi.

BC RCMP Surrey Police Operations Support Unit officers responded to the crash, and both the Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) have been called in to assist.

"The investigation is in its early stages and is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision. The driver of the vehicle that struck the other vehicle remained at the scene of the collision and is cooperating with police," said the release from SPS Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton.

The  crash caused multiple road closures for several hours on Christmas Day.
