Woman dead after 'targeted' stabbing in Surrey

Victim of Sept. 8 stabbing succumbed to injuries after being found unconscious

A woman has died in a targeted stabbing in Surrey on Sept. 8, 2024.

The victim of a targeted stabbing in Surrey last week has now succumbed to her injuries.

On Sunday, Sept. 8 just after 2 a.m., a was located by police who were called to the area of 108 Avenue and King George Boulevard for a report of a pedestrian-struck incident. After initial investigation, Surrey RCMP found that she was not involved in a motor vehicle collision but was the victim of a stabbing.

With visible stab wounds and wearing blood-covered clothing, the woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. In an update to Peace Arch News on Monday (Sept. 16) morning, police said the victim died of her injuries.

Jennifer Kipp, 36, was arrested by police shortly after the incident and was charged the same day for assault with a  weapon and aggravated assault.

Police said on Tuesday (Sept. 10) the stabbing was targeted.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, Sgt. Tammy Lobb said, with Kipp next scheduled for Surrey provincial court on Tuesday (Sept. 17), according to court services online. She remains in custody.

"Our thoughts are with the victim鈥檚 family and friends at this time," Lobb said.
