A 911 call to White Rock RCMP Sunday led to the successful arrest of a man wanted on eight outstanding warrants.
At 4 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 23), White Rock RCMP received a call from a homeowner on Bellevue Crescent reporting a suspicious male, apparently banging on the owner's front door.
"She didn't answer her door, but was concerned he was in her yard without any apparent reason," White Rock RCMP Const. Chantal Sears said.
"White Rock RCMP were patrolling and located a male matching the description that she provided within a one-block radius," she noted, adding that the homeowner had provided a distinct description of what the man was wearing.
Although the man initially provided a false name, officers were able to identify him and discerned he had eight outstanding warrants out of Surrey, Vancouver and as far away as Ontario.
Kirk Patrick Mcrae was arrested for the charges listed in the warrants, which range from theft $5,000 or under, possession of stolen property over $5,000, uttering threats and dangerous operation of a conveyance, among others.
Sears said the arrest shows how important it is to call police if something feels wrong or concerning.
"No call is too small in White Rock," she said.
"If you have any suspicious activity on your property or in the area, we'd love to get a phone call about it."
