Video shows theft of a child's custom bike in Surrey

Police in Surrey hope someone can ID a guy suspected of stealing a custom bike used for a young girl with complex health needs.

Surveillance video shows a man cutting a lock and walking off with the bike in the 8800-block of 162 Street on Monday, Sept. 16.

Surrey RCMP say a father reported the bike stolen after he parked and secured it and went to a nearby school to pick up his daughter. When he came back within 15 minutes, the bike was stolen.

"The father advised that his daughter has complex health needs that requires her to move from one place to another utilizing the custom-made additions to this bike," a police news release says.

The suspect was wearing a grey and maroon long-sleeve shirt, dark pants, a baseball cap and sunglasses.

The bike is described as a sage-green Eventin Abound Cargo E-Bike with two child seats attached. If you have info about the bike or suspect, call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-139199.

鈥淚t鈥檚 extremely important for us to recover this stolen bike as it has been customized to fit this child鈥檚 specific needs,鈥 said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, Surrey RCMP.

鈥淲e are appealing to the suspect directly to return this bike to any of our District Office locations.鈥
