VIDEO: Semi collides with Highway 99 overpass at 112th Street

Incident marks the second time in 18 months this overpass has been struck

Another semi-truck has collided with an overpass in the Lower Mainland.

The latest incident happened in Delta on Thursday, Dec. 28, shortly after noon.

Firefighters on the scene have confirmed that the collision occurred in the southbound lanes of Highway 99, affecting 112th Street between Ladner Trunk Road and Highway 91.

According to crews at the scene, two vehicles, including a semi-truck, were involved in the collision.

No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Southbound traffic is currently blocked at the overpass, causing congestion. Meanwhile, the overpass itself is inaccessible in both directions as crews work to assess the situation.

In response to the road closures associated with the collision, Delta Police are assisting the BC Highway Patrol. Stay tuned for further updates on this incident.

This collision is just the latest in a series of incidents involving semi trucks striking overpasses across the region.

In fact, Thursday鈥檚 incident marks the second time this particular overpass has been struck in the past 18 months.

On July 21, 2022, the Highway 99/112 Street overpass was damaged, albeit not badly, when a truck carrying an excavator hit it. That incident marked the ninth strike in 12 months for the region, though there have been at least two more in 91原创 since then.
