A 91原创 City site will switch from commercial to residential use, once an office building at 20644 Eastleigh Cres. is torn down and replaced with a taller condominium building.
Demolition is expected early in 2025, following council's unanimous vote on Nov. 18 to approve a development permit application by builder Whitetail Homes.
The next step will be a building permit review.
Built in 1985 the four-storey, multi-suite office building will be replaced by a U-shaped six-storey, 178-unit residential structure.
Mayor Nathan Pachal noted that the site had already been designated 鈥淭ransit-Oriented Residential鈥 in the Official Community Plan, and the application was only for a development permit, council's consideration was limited to "form and character" of the design.
A report to council by City planner Anton Metalnikov said the design would present an "engaging frontage along Eastleigh Crescent while providing a higher density on this well-located site near downtown and the City鈥檚 transit hub."
