Mission Fire Rescue Service (MFRS) was called to the Mission Inn Motel for another fire on Tuesday morning (June 20) after extinguishing a blaze at the same location less than a week earlier.
The department was called to the Lougheed Highway motel just before 10:30 a.m. with North Fraser Fire, Mission RCMP, and paramedics also on scene.
Flames shot from the roof as firefighters attempted to control the blaze. After dousing the fire from above, the flames began to falter.
The fire was extinguished roughly an hour after the call and no one was injured in the incident.
MFRS assistant chief Nick Rychkun says the cause of the fire is unknown but an investigation will begin on Wednesday (June 21).
鈥淭he fire was quite extensive,鈥 Rychkun said. 鈥淧otentially it started in one of the lower suites working its way up to the attic area.鈥
Security will stay at the location overnight to ensure its safety.
Last Wednesday (June 14), the full MFRS department was called out to a fire at the motel and extinguished it within an hour.
Twelve residents were evacuated from the building and a school bus was brought in to transfer them. Last week鈥檚 fire is believed to have started on the upper level.
On Thursday, Mission RCMP said the June 14 fire wasn鈥檛 considered suspicious.
