A 22-year-old has been charged with driving while impaired after a crash near Trinity Western University that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital with serious injuries.
The crash took place just after 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6 on University Drive, between Glover Road and 216th Street, said Const. Simon Lepine, a media relations officer with the 91原创 RCMP.
Details on exactly how the two vehicles collided was not released, but Lepine said that the motorcyclist was a 57-year-old man who suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and was taken to hospital.
The van driver was a 22-year-old woman.
She has since been arrested.
The motorcycle wound up in a ditch near 79th Avenue, and debris was scattered on the road.
University Drive was closed for several hours to investigate, with traffic allowed through again at around noon.
The 91原创 RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT), the 91原创 Traffic unit and 91原创 General Duty officers are investigating the accident, and are asking any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, and has not already spoken to police, to call the local detachment at 604-532-3200.
