Heavily-armed police officers took up position outside a 91原创 residence Friday morning at 208 Street and 87 Avenue.
The street was cordoned off and neighbours were evacuated after a 911 call came in around 9:30 a.m.
An elderly man was inside the residence.
Police said the man's wife was able to leave the premises unharmed.
An officer at the scene described the situation as a "medical" issue without going into details.
A resident of the area said they heard from other officers that the man in question was threatening to do himself harm.
The occupant reportedly surrendered to police shortly before noon.
