A pedestrian is dead after a hit-and-run in Surrey on Wednesday (Nov. 15), police say.

Surrey RCMP say the 81-year-old man was hit at 75A Avenue and 120A Street around 6:50 p.m.

鈥淒espite life-saving measures, the person did not survive,鈥� Surrey RCMP Cpl. Vanessa Munn stated in a news release Thursday (Nov. 16). 鈥淭he initial investigation indicates the pedestrian was crossing the road and was struck by a vehicle that did not remain on scene.鈥�

Surrey RCMP鈥檚 Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and the Integrated Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are investigating.

Police ask anyone in the area of 120A Street and 75 A Avenue on Nov. 15 between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. that has information or dash-cam footage to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or visit solvecrime.ca.

This is the second collision involving a pedestrian in Surrey in less than 24 hours.

A youth was hit by a vehicle in the 19400-block of Fraser Highway at about 8:15 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 16). They were transported to hospital with serious injuries, police say.

There have been at least seven fatal pedestrian collisions in Surrey in 2023, Munn said.
