Two pedestrians were seriously injured in separate collisions in north Surrey Monday night, one of them a hit-and-run.
A 40-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition after he was hit by a southbound freightliner truck in the 6700-block of 152 Street shortly after 9 p.m.
鈥淭he driver of the truck is cooperating with police. The investigation is in the very early stages and police are working to determine what factors may have led to this unfortunately circumstance,鈥 Surrey RCMP Sgt. Chris De Hart said. Police are asking anyone with information, including dash cam footage around the area between 9 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file# 24-20918.
About an hour and a half later, a woman was taken to hospital with 鈥渟evere injuries to her lower extremities鈥 after being hit by an SUV in a hit-and-run in the 12200 block of 82 Avenue.
鈥淭he suspect vehicle, a smaller model SUV was making a right-turn south-bound onto 122A Street when it struck the pedestrian,鈥 De Hart said. 鈥淭he vehicle stopped momentarily, then proceeded to flee south on 122A Street. The vehicle appears to be dark grey or black in colour and will likely have sustained front-end damage.鈥
The crash happened at 10:32 p.m. Police ask anyone with information, including dash cam footage from the area of 122A Street and 82nd Avenue between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m., to call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 2024-20946.
