Two 91原创 men in their 20s have been arrested and charged after a vicious, unprovoked attack at the 91原创 City 7-Eleven on the night of Monday, Nov. 26. The attack was so brutal it left the victim lying in the middle of the road bleeding and unconscious.

Around 11:20 p.m., 91原创 RCMP were called by a passing motorist who saw two men beating on another just outside the 56 Avenue convenience store.

The first officer to arrive found the unconscious victim lying in the middle of the road with his friend watching over him, said police.

鈥淭he victim was bleeding from the back of his head and from a cut above his eye.  It took several minutes for him to regain consciousness,鈥 said 91原创 RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Holly Marks. The victim was immediately taken to hospital.

His friend told police they had exited the 7-Eleven and walked past two men who appeared drunk.  It鈥檚 alleged that one of the suspects punched the victim, who tried to walk away but was unable to as both the men knocked him to the ground and punched him repeatedly.

The victim鈥檚 friend was able to temporarily pull one assailant away but eventually, both men continued the assault, said Marks.

鈥淭he victim was punched repeatedly and kicked in the head,鈥 she said.

The two suspects then took the victim鈥檚 coat and fled on foot.

Witnesses to the beating told police the two suspects were standing in front of Army & Navy store.

Officers went across the street and arrested the two who were holding the victim鈥檚 jacket.

Allan Carmichael, 29,and Jordan Jaric, 24, are charged with one count each of robbery.  Carmichael was held in custody and appeared in court on Tuesday.

Jaric was released and was due back in court on Wednesday.

Marks said it was the impressive care of the community that made sure the attackers were arrested.

鈥淚n this instance, arrests and charges may not have been possible without the vigilance of the citizens of 91原创,鈥 said Marks.

鈥淎s a 91原创 resident myself, I am encouraged and comforted to know my neighbours are looking out for each other.鈥

While there was little the victim could have done, 91原创 RCMP still want to remind people to avoid all contact with individuals acting suspiciously, especially if they are intoxicated.

Carmichael is a known criminal who has been convicted or break and enters in years past.

It doesn鈥檛 appear Jaric has a criminal history.
