The driver and company involved in the latest Lower Mainland overpass hit will be investigated, police say.
B.C. Highway Patrol say a commercial tractor-trailer was carrying a pre-fabricated home on Highway 99 southbound when it hit the Blundell Road overpass in Richmond on Wednesday (March 19), around 9:45 a.m. The crash caused major delays for several hours.
Highway patrol Cpl. Michael McLaughlin said the tractor-trailer stopped at the scene, and both the driver and the company will be investigated.
A pilot vehicle that was following the tractor-trailer was damaged when the over-height load of lumber fell off the trailer and hit the pilot vehicle’s windshield."
McLaughlin said there were no injuries and no visible damage to the overpass, but inspectors will be taking a closer look at the infrastructure to ensure it's safe.
This is at least the seventh overpass hit on B.C. highways this year, according to the province's .
