It took 91原创 RCMP less than an hour to solve a case of stolen property.

Around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, (Oct. 1) the RCMP learned a U-haul truck had been stolen overnight from the 9400 block of 202B Street. The victim was moving and the truck was filled with his personal belongings, including two red suitcases.

While officers were interviewing the complainant, someone reported seeing a suspicious black Dodge Dakota with two occupants and two large red suitcases in the back.

The occupants were attempting to break into the suitcases by smashing them on the ground.

Police caught up with the Dakota in the 21400 block of 96 Avenue around 8 a.m.

The male driver gave up, but the female passenger fled the vehicle. She didn鈥檛 get far.

The property contained in the truck was returned to its rightful owner.

The U-haul was recovered later that day with the remaining personal belongings.

Bernard Barton, 35, and Crystal York, 24, both of 91原创 have been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and theft.

York has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance and breach of probation.
