A 91原创 elementary school teacher accused of molesting one of her students has elected for a jury trial.
Deborah Ralph, 58, was in Provincial Court in Surrey on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing, accompanied by two of her lawyers.
The preliminary hearing heard testimony from her accuser, who is now a grown man. There is a ban on publication on any information that takes place in a preliminary hearing.
Ralph is charged with one count of and one count of sexual interference of a person under the age of 14.
It is allegedly Ralph sexually assaulted a male student between December 1998 and June 2001.
The alleged victim contacted 91原创 RCMP on Nov. 8, 2011 to report he had been sexually assaulted by Ralph. He had been one of her students at James Kennedy Elementary School. He once was her student, but alleges he was assaulted when she was no longer his teacher.
Ralph taught at the school from September 1987 to June 2010. She was suspended with pay after she was charged.
