A failed attempt at stealing tools from a construction site led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man in 91原创 City on Thursday morning.
The incident began around 9:30 a.m. at a construction site at 212th Street and 56th Avenue, where workers interrupted an attempted theft, said Cpl. Craig van Herk, spokesperson for the 91原创 RCMP.
The would-be thief was tossing hand tools over the fence to land outside the site, but when he was spotted by workers, he bolted, and didn鈥檛 actually manage to take any with him.
The suspect sped off on a BMX-style bike, and RCMP officers were soon on the way to the area, armed with a description of the suspect and his last known direction of travel.
Police caught up with a man matching the suspect鈥檚 description, on a bike, near the 91原创 Bypass and Glover Road, said van Herk.
鈥淗e attempted to flee,鈥 van Herk said. 鈥淢embers engaged in a brief foot pursuit.鈥
The suspect was arrested in a parking lot of a luxury car dealership.
A 27-year-old man of no fixed address is potentially facing charges.
