Suspect in custody after two people stabbed in Abbotsford

Suspect was found by police with suspected self-inflicted injuries

Abbotsford Police say there is no continued threated to the public following a stabbing in the city Saturday evening.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 1900 block of McCallum Road just before 7 p.m., for a reported weapons call.

Const. Art Stele said that when they arrived at the scene, officers found two victims suffering from what appeared to be serious and life-threatening stab wounds. With the help of Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service and BC Ambulance Service, officers provided life-sustaining measures to the victims, who were transported to the hospital.

Officers quickly contained and isolated the surrounding area and found the suspect, who was placed into police custody and transported to hospital with what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries.

The police department鈥檚 Major Crime Unit members are in the initial stages of the investigation, with early indicators suggesting the event to be targeted.

There is no risk to the public, and investigators are seeking any witnesses and persons with information on this event to please contact them at 604-859-5225.
